A week ago I got my first tegu - an extreme giant baby named Loki. I first fell in love with tegus a bit over a year ago. I desperately wanted one but my husband was very apprehensive. It took me ages to convince him that we should get a one - he finally relented about a week before the extremes started shipping.

Loki absolutely loves my husband. When Bob calls him Loki jumps on his hand and sits there quietly waiting to be carried to the feeding dish. When I call him he walks over and bites me repeatedly. Alternatively he'll run into my hand and then run away the second I try to move him. I'm not seriously worried about it at this stage - it is somewhat funny at this size. I am wondering what it is that I'm doing wrong though. Do they tend to pick favorites with their owners?

We both handle the tegu though I've probably spent more time interacting with him at this point. We both take turns carrying hm to the feeding dish. I made the mistake of not washing my hands enough after eating once or twice but lately I've been scrubbing my hands three or four times before handling him. He's never been hand fed and is always carried to his food.

Again I'm not really upset about it - I'm actually thrilled my husband and the tegu are bonding. Just really wondering if it is something I'm doing wrong or if Loki just likes my husband more than me.

I have one that is my favorite and she also seems to prefer interacting with me. I don't know...maybe it is because I feed her and let her out.
