Hi, I'm http://www.tegutalk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=7834&p=72522

The Story..
I got this Colombian Golden from a friend. The friend had it in a 40 gal tank, pine shavings for bedding, 60watt light bulb, and for feeding time he would dangle a dead mouse from the top of the cage. So he isn't that happy of a Tegu..

The new.. Mr. Bartolucci aka "Poot"
I now have him in a dresser that I put on its back (3' long 2.5' wide 15" high) and lined, cypress mulch, big water tub and some little things in it. I use the 40gal for a feeding area. Purchased a 150watt UVA light (couldn't afford the uvb this week). Now feeding him grapes, strawberries, and frozen mice (thawed, no micesicles)..

The wooden thing shown in the pictures which he is basking on is removed. He looked like he was about to get stabbed, and seeing how it's a short cage, I'm afraid it's too close to the light. He wouldn't eat today while I was changing his bedding, so I'm going to try again tomorrow.

THE HEAT ROCK IS NOT PLUGGED IN
I cut the cord and am just using it for a basking rock =P

Good luck with the Tegu, he's a lucky boy and from the sound of it you got to him just in time! He looks pretty good in the pictures.
I did the same thing with my old heat rock. they warm up so nice just under the light.

Wow way to go, I really enjoy a rescue story. I met a guy a couple of weeks ago that rescued a Black and White that had been so mis-treated that she has no toes at all just little nubs and he says she was badly mal nurished. It is however very easy to tell that they have a very good relationship with eachother and he takes her to the local schools many times throughout the school year and shows her off the the children. He calls her "Princess Twinkle Toes" by the way.

Yeah he's already some what trusting me.. I have to wear gloves though, hopefully by next week they wont be needed...

I made him a youtube incase any of you want to check him out more. I have him eating grapes and moving him into a feeding cage with a mouse in it.
