I've had my male Argentine B&W tegu for 5 months. He is 1.5 years old, 3 ft long, and 1.3k grams. He had hookworms when I first got him, and it took a month to get rid of them. Then, for 3 months he still would not eat. We ran another fecal test and it turned up the hookworms had came back. This time we got rid of this with the first dose of antibiotics. My question is, what should I do to get him to start eating again? Ive tried just about every food I could think of, and nothing has worked. Is there anything I can do? Or is it just a matter of time? He has been force fed since I've had him, he wouold have starved to death if I hadn't.

Raw egg yolk is very difficult to refuse. try that out if rhe shell. If it works, coat a pinky with it.

I do not know. What has the vet said? Is she losing weight? If not and if healthy, will she eat when she's ready?

The vet said to give him natural sunlight, which I have been doing. However, I leave him outside longer than 45 minutes because the heat is so intense. 140 surface temps and the air temperature is almost 100. Ive been force feeding him food, is that the right thing? Once its in his mouth he'll eat it. And no, he's gained 500 grams since I've had him. The thing is, I don't know what to do if he doesn't start eating. He had parasites for a long time, so his stomach is probably messed up, but he won't take anything, at all :/.

I've always been right that a healthy tegu will not starve itself. Therefore, apart from offering egg yolk and a pinky, I'd be stumped as well.

I did get rid of them in the past and not recheck for three months. They could have come back wihin a week and I just didn't notice. And its only been half a month since I got rid of them the second time. Could his stomach just me messed up? I can't think of any other explanation.

That would be my question for the vet. Important question.

Im very sad to say that an unexpected trip took place and I was unable to get him to the vet :C. I feel terrible about it. Thank freaking god, I was able to get somebody to care for him while I was away. Its not easy to find somebody willing to care for a tegu, especially on short notice. Anyway, I'm taken him to a vet trip on the fifteenth. TEN days without vet care. Thats SO bad. Today, though, I was able to get him to take three bites of ground turkey on his own, which is a step.
