taming red tegu

hey im new to the forum. i have a baby arg red tegu about 3 months old now, ive had him/her for about 2 weeks. and i havent been very successful in the taming. he/she still runs away when i reach for it for feeding time. i go nice and slow and i never fight with it. and when i do pick the tegu up, its always clawing and pushing off with its back legs. is there anything i can do to get the tegu atleast used to being moved to the feeding container. or will time and patience do it all. am i doing everything right or should i change some things up? thanks

Have you got enough hides in the viv?when I had my B&W first I only had one hide and he was constantly skittish and defensive but I added more hides and now he is not so bad?maybe try adding more hides?
