Ok I dont know if anyone is going to know the answer to this but lets see (Already called vet there closed today  ). My cat has tapeworms and the little white segments containing eggs break off and come out his butt, well anyways he is in my room often and my tegu roams alot and he has eaten some small peices of i dont know what (Food crumbs, peice of carpeting, maybe tapeworm segment) off the carpet the past couple days and I was wondering if he ate one of those little tiny worm segments which are the size of a peice of rice could he get infected with this tapeworm??

I am not too sure but I think it depends on what type of tapeworm it is. There are several different species and they all vary on how they might effect a reptile. Some are big enough that they can digest them. How did your cat get the tape worm? Is he an outdoor cat? If there are fleas around the cat can get them from eating them. definitely check with your herp vet for more info an just keep an eye for any changes in your tegus behavior. Someone on here hopefully will know some more info for you. Here's some reading to check out.

This could be a very real factor in your tegu getting tape worms. I have seen snakes that were fed road kill rabbits get them, I would not take any chances on this, I would contact a vet and ask thier advice.

Yeah I am definately going to contact a vet and ask them what they think. And yes my cat is an outdoor cat so that is how he got them.
