I've had my Argentine Red for a couple months now. He was born last fall. I feed him daily using tongs. He is still afraid of me. He runs when I try to pet him. I'm lucky if he lets me hold him for more than a few seconds.
How big is his enclosure? The size of it can have a huge effect on taming. Have you tried putting a used shirt in his enclosure? The shirt is helpful because he will associate you and your smell with safety and comfort.
