What do you guys do to keep their claws from getting too sharp. My vet had a rotating grinding tool that she used and recommended. Does something like this look practical to use?

a dremmel? They make safer pet ones specifically for animals. It has a guard on it...

Yeah, unless you are absolutely awesome at using a Dremel it is risky because you could very easily grind off too much. Get an animal claw clipper or a regular nail file.
