Here's a pic of my tegu skeleton. I'm fairly certain it's form an Argentine. I've had lots of people ask me if this was a former pet and the answer is no; all of my pets are buried in the backyard except my ball python, Mr. Slithersworth, whom I had cremated. I would never taxidermy any of my animals. I received this spectacular piece as a gift.

Nice.. I thought about doing that a couple of times before mine passed. When the time came though, it was the furthest thing from my mind and I had them cremated instead.
Probably would though under different circumstances.

Yeah 2, I just haven't updated it anytime soon.

gotcha. just curious!

does anyone know where you could obtain one of these? You can find lizard skeletons on ebay and amazon but I didn't see anything for tegu.

that's really awesome. Cool photo behind it too. Have you ever had an argentine tegu?

Nope, Kodo is the first tegu I've ever had and he's Colombian. HOwever, he was labeled as an Argentine in the store where I got him. The picture is of me with a black throat monitor I took for my bar mitzvah when I was 13.

does he handle well? and that's really cool, but slightly terrifying.

He handles extremely well and is incredibly docile. I take him out nearly every day and in the almost two years I've had him, he's never given a single display of aggression. He has never bitten or tail whipped, and he's never given even the slightest hiss. Kodo will even allow my dachshunds to lick him in the face. True, he can be a bit high strung at times and doesn't like to sit still for long periods of time, and sometimes he gets extra squirmy when being held by someone who isn't me. He used to live at the children's museum where I worked and got desensitized to people early on. I use him for outreach with my reptile society and I take him out in public (leashed) on a regular basis.

it sounds like most people are pretty successful with them. I guess they just get a bad rep because they're different than the argentines, but it seems like they're tamer than most lizards anyway.
