Tegu Time Table

I have very strong reason to believe that tegus have a sense of time. Kodo has adjusted his daily routine based on being fed after I get home from work. When he was living at the museum used to wake up around 10ish, bask for a bit, eat no later than 11 or 1130, and burrow down for bed by late afternoon. Now he is living with me at home, on days I work I am not home until 5ish at the earliest and sometimes the food isn't fully thawed until closer to 6. Kodo now stays in his hole until past noon, typically isn't ready to eat until around 2, and will stay awake sometimes as long as 9 even though his lights are all off. Sometimes I even need to trick him to go to sleep; he tends to paw at the glass when there are people in my room (tegu for "I want out") but if I leave the room for 10 or 15 minutes he realizes no one is there and beds down. I've never had a reptile adjust to my schedule like that before.
