Tegu won't Eat

My new Tegu is interested in food but he won't eat it. He just laps up the juices on the plate and he's done. I tried handing it to him and showing him it's pieces and not a liquid and he won't have it. I've been trying to feed him some fresh raw salmon cut up and some fruits mixed in today but he will only lick up whatever juice is on the plate and he's done.
Any idea on how to show him that he needs to eat it rather than lap it up?
I've tried feeding Whole Prey (adult mice and small rats), ground turkey, giblets, liver.. And whatever fruits I may have. He just licks up whatever's on the plate and never actually consumes anything.

You could mince it or make a smoothie for him to drink, mine did that for a while, but eat better now

Hmm that could work, I'll have to pick up a blender for him then. Will it fill him up like it would if he ate it solid? I'm not sure if I could grind up the mice and rats but maybe I could throw in some pinkies.

Probably, it will get any nutrients he needs into him

Try starting off with superworms, and/ or put a raw egg into a bowl. they love eggs boiled or raw.. Then slowly convert to liver and fruit etc etc..
