Vet Visit / Impaction Scare

Well I've been having a bunch of reptile issues this week. One of my leos developed a bad systematic infection so I've been in and out of the vet's office all week. I've been getting more and more concerned about Loki as well as he hasn't pooped since mid last week.

I've been soaking him in a warm bath every night for up to an hour. Usually he goes to the bathroom in the tub every other day. On the advice of another thread I tried mixing pumpkin pie filling into his food but he wasn't eating. I was also starting to wonder if the sausages that I made him were causing a blockage (although he was eating the sausages without problem for a while before this happened).

First of all it turns out that he wasn't eating because I mixed pumpkin into his food (which he apparently hates). I gave him a huge meal of snails last night and he ate it all - still no poop though. On top of all this my gecko popped a stitch so I had to bring them both to the vet today. The vet examined Loki, took a history, soaked him more while rubbing his stomach. She couldn't feel a mass or any signs of impaction so they took him in for x-rays. We got the x-rays back and.... nothing. No impaction, no food mass. He's absolutely fine.

So... Out $140 for X-rays & Exam and I still need to figure out where the damn poop is

Very sorry to hear you are having problems :(
I hope your leo heals up quickly. And while it sucks you had to spend money on x-rays, it's always good to have that peace of mind. Keep an eye on him and keep tabs on what he's eating and his waste. Hopefully he'll be back on schedule ASAP! :)

Never been so happy to see tegu crap in my life. He went tonight - I think the vet was right and he wasn't actually impacted, still good to know for sure. I think he must have been burying it in the cage for some reason last week. I'm not really pissed about the bill, didn't really need the expense right now, but the peace of mind is worth it.

He does seem to adore the vet though - starting to suspect he does this stuff on purpose.
