When do male tegus start to develope jouls?

i have a argentine red tegu that seems to be getting jouls already and he's only 5 months old, s/he is also a little bit chubbyer, actually much chubbyer
and how do you sex baby tegus, i mean seriously, accuratly

Thats about the age they start to show up, around 5-6 months old.

There is no way really to be 100%, I am probably about the best at sexing tegus. And if I told you I would need to kill ya, just kidding. :lol:

No, I use probes and also go by the over all looks of the animals.I look at the snout, as well as the feet. It is kind of hard to explain, but I am right about 90% or more most of the time.
