hello I'm new at this. so I have just a question just wondering if I'm doing this right. for my baby. Her name is X she is about 3 years old. She is beautiful, she has been shedding about 1 month now but hasn't shed her tail is this normal. I have only had her about 2.5 months.
hello there,
congratulations on your black & white argentine tegu. I got 2 of them back in March named Chompa & Tegoots-Rex. Initially, Tegoots-Rex settled in and started eating like a champion. Chompa took at least 2 months before she felt like home. Fast forward to December and Chompa is bigger than Tegoots-Rex lol.
Good luck, and a Happy Healthy New Year to you!

It sounds like you love your babies! I love my dragon but the love I have for my tegu is different. I really connect with him and I have a huge respect for him and I try to make sure he knows it. My fiancé and my little one are both jealous of my lizards, as I spend almost all my free time with them somewhere on my body lol I’m only a beginner when it comes to tegus though so I can always learn more!!! :)

They are awesome. I find the more you take them out to explore the more they adapt. I've noticed they've learned to use the bathroom outside their tanks the more they are out. I guess you can call that potty training a lizard . I'm sure your babies are in great hands.
Help! Making an appointment with a vet ASAP, but want opinions here. For the last few days my red guy has been aggressive and he seems “wobbly”. He tries to look around and his head starts swaying like he’s “drunk”. Then he starts freaking out. He’s right at a year old.
is your favorite insect the praying mantis? if so, welcome to the fan club! (there isen't acctually one you get the idea)
Just wondering how big your lizard is and what is it?

I've never really had any attitude problems...... Yes hes bit me 3 time but through my own stupidity, he was skittish and alot of work till he was around 18 month but no more than any other Gu..... We are in the UK by the way too
Just got my baby black and white tegu a few hours ago, he is so much better than I expected he is very social with me couldn’t be happier
Walter1, I was reading a old post where you had your Tegus in the back yard during the summer. you still doing that? I live south of Detroit and if I remember correctly you are in penn? so the weather should be similar. I wanted to give these guys some natural light and get them someplace while I rebuild and clean they regular enclosures
Nope - he/she is trying to figure out where she landed. They take awhile to settle, and it's diff for every Tegu. They will usually eat less, or not at all. As they start to feel secure, they temporarily become more territorial. These are smart animals with unique instincts for survival. It's actually pretty cool to watch how they respond and adapt.
