At about 31" and one year old should you be able to tell the sex of a tegu? I know what to look for just really haven't seen it yet. If I hadn't found spurs yet would it be safe to assume female? I don't have any pics of bottom right now.
So cypress is coming hard to find now. For people who use soil or soil/sand how dirty is it? Like how dirty will the tegu get from it. I don't want to let it free roam if dirt will cover my rug. Also how fast does it dry out?
I put mine in a cage that exact size right away with no problems. It was a pain getting him out however when he was young. You have to actually climb in a get him and he would run all over the cage trying to avoid me. Eventually he calmed down after he got a little bigger and after bin feeding...
Hey. Been a long time since I have been on. Two jobs, internship and grad school and wedding planning keeps me busy. Anyways my tegu from teguterra last year is doing great. He(now starting to think she) is doing great and very calm. I just wanted to see who else for a tegu from johnny at...
I say take your time. I just sat in my room and played my xbox or watched tv. He usually just poked his head out and looked at me and was very cautious when basking. I say it took mine about a month to get used to me in the room and about a month after coming out of hibernation in April for me...
I say keep trying to bin feed. Mine did not like being handled at all either. I used to feed in the cage but decided to change it up and feed in a tote. I had to force mine in the tote for the first week or so. I had to literally get in the cage and chase him around and put him in the tote. He...
I had to change how I Fed mine also. I used to feed outside of cage when u first got him then work schedule changed and I would put it in the cage before work. He never got very tame and wouldn't let me get near him. I switched to bin feeding about 3 weeks ago and have made amazing progress...
At same time you still want some ventilation. If not all the humidity will make mold grow. You want enough for sure flow but not too little for mildew to grow
I recently started bin feeding my tegu to calm him down and it has been working great so far. I will be going out of town for a weekend and I'm debating If I should get someone to just put food in his cage every day or just not feed him at all. I don't want to mess up the progress he has made. I...
These are the two I am looking at. http://www.lowes.com/ProductDisplay?partNumber=97680-76450-HM02H&langId=-1&storeId=10151&productId=3593526&catalogId=10051&cmRelshp=req&rel=nofollow&cId=PDIO1 and...
So I understand pine and cedar are not safe for reptiles. I can only ffind cypress blend and not pure cypress anymore. What about regular natural hardwood mulch? I do not see where anyone has commented on this and even online I can't find any information on it. All I see is that hardwood...
How is preat moss management wise. Like I don't want dirt bc I feel the tegu will get well. .. dirty lol and spread it in it's water and my floor. Is peat the same. How would coco fiber and husk work?
