Well it's pretty regularly done in inguanas for the same exact reason to, to calm them down. I would never do something that would put my or any animal in danger. If anything it'd be for her safety, females regularly have reproductive system issues down the road.
Been pretty curious about this subject lately. I can't seem to find any information on it though.
I'm just a little worried about sexual maturity, I don't want my already spunky girl to turn into a dragon from hell when she becomes fully matured. She's about 20 inches and already strong when she...
Well update she's defiantly going into hibernation ! She'll go down for about two days at a time, come up eat bask and little and then back to bed. Can't break a wild caught of all their tendencies. Gonna miss her :/
My Loki is doing this same exact thing. She's standing on her hind legs and literally launching herself up at the screen and holding on. I had to raise her lights so she'd 1 stop breaking them and 2 not burn her self like a dumby lol
My guess is if she hasn't calmed down they weren't handling her enough. But as you said your a new owner I honestly would not reccomend it. Hell hath no fury like a pissed of monitor. I have a hathchling golden at work that tears the hell of of me if I don't grab him exactly the right way and...
Do you know Forsure this was a captive bread animal and not wild caught ?
Normally tegus will only seriously hibernate after their first time. And most the of the time breeders won't allow them to hybrnate so they never really get into the swing of it, they may start to act sluggish and maybe a...
Normally with MBD the twitching is in major muscles like the thighs, back ect. Has he been having normal sheds ? Sometimes if a couple sheds don't come off of the toes/fingers it can start to build up and eventually cutt off the circulation to the extremity, causing twitching of the appendage...
so about two a month ago miss Loki got out of her tank and had a good two week roaming adventure. Well we found her and got her back In her tank and warmed up. We fed her after she had been under heat for a while, she took a few nibbles from her favorite meal (ground bloody beef, hard boiled egg...
When I got my Loki she was malnourished , and living in a tupaware box with a paper towel soaked in her own pee. As long as she wasn't wild caught you really don't need to worry about a vet just yet, unless she's showing signs of a respiratory infection ( drooling, labored breathing, raspy...
So I found out the tegu I bought is a wild caught for sure, and boy does she show it. She goes though fits of being sweet and then being totally CRAZY. I really wanted a domesticated tegu which is what the dude told me she was at first idk why I listened since she was completely miss treated...
She just happen to be wandering around and heard her nails on the tile and picked her butt up. She was so sweet for a couple days and now she's back to being moody :/ trying to domesticate a wild tegu is proving to be quite the challenge. Wish I had known before I bought her and got attached .
Tegus are so crazy ! You can tell when they're even a
Little hungry just by looking at their tummies. My lokie will get little wrinkles on her side and then she eats and she all bloated and fat lol
