Not so good giving meds. I’ve been bit twice and I feel I’ve lost any trust I had with him. I can put the pain meds in his food but the parasite medication I do by mouth because I need to make sure he gets the meds. Do you think I should try a probiotic during this mess? All he wants to do is sleep and hide. The vet is supposed to call me today.

you could try probiotics. I'm not exactly sure if that would help but maybe he has trouble digesting calcium or somthing so it's worth a try

I don't know if their bodies require the same kind of treatment that us humans do (as far as the probiotics) so maybe someone else can respond to that....I'd like to know!

But as far as the trust - I think you'll be surprised how they sense that as much as they don't like what's going on, they feel better. It may have the opposite effect over time, where they know you're there for them. I KNOW my male Skully and I went through some pretty gruesome days when he was impacted. Strangely, I can handle him easier now - he just surrenders.

Smart little dinosaurs!

Also Jennifer - I remember thinking Skully would hate me and never understand all that went on..... so don't fret you're a good Mom!

Sorry about the bites. I hope they weren't too bad...

Thank you everyone. I really appreciate all the kind words and advice. When my beardie was on antibiotics, probiotics were encouraged. I know Tegus and beardies are different so I wasn’t sure if it was a recommendation for Tegus. I’ll have to call the vet and ask.

When our gu was on antibiotics and painkillers, I thought he would hate us. But, he still crawls out of our enclosure and into our laps, he is just a big baby.
