They gave him Metronidazole 50mg. Give 1.5 CC by mouth every 7 days.
Not so good giving meds. I’ve been bit twice and I feel I’ve lost any trust I had with him. I can put the pain meds in his food but the parasite medication I do by mouth because I need to make sure he gets the meds. Do you think I should try a probiotic during this mess? All he wants to do is sleep and hide. The vet is supposed to call me today.
When our gu was on antibiotics and painkillers, I thought he would hate us. But, he still crawls out of our enclosure and into our laps, he is just a big baby.I don't know if their bodies require the same kind of treatment that we humans do (as far as the probiotics) so maybe someone else can respond to that....I'd like to know!
But as far as the trust - I think you'll be surprised how they sense that as much as they don't like what's going on, they feel better. It may have the opposite effect over time, where they know you're there for them. I KNOW my male Skully, and I went through some pretty gruesome days when he was impacted. Strangely, I can handle him easier now - he just surrenders.
Smart little dinosaurs!
