The breeder told us we had a girl when we got our tegu Bluey as a hatchling, but I realize it’s not an exact science at that age. Now that Bluey is a year and a half, I was trying to see if I could spot the bbs everyone’s always talking about in these threads, and I am struggling! Maybe that means it is a girl? Or I just don’t know what exactly I’m looking for lol either way, he/she is part of our family now so it doesn’t really matter. I’m more just curious

When I bought Sammy, I was told he was a she. Of course, I made the mistake of making my gender preference known prior to purchase, which I am sure led to the seller saying "Oh yes, definitely a female!" in order to secure the sale. I named "her" Samantha since it could become Sam if events proved otherwise. A month or so after ending "her" 7 month brumation, probably at an age of about 10 months, "Samantha" came out, as it were, by everting "her" hemipenis, clarifying the situation for all but the most ardent transgenderists.

I would be interested in hearing from others as to whether all males tend to display their goods when defecating
(lizards only, please).
