    Tegu taming

I would be guessing. I'm not sure how much Blizzard's problems have been from not identifying me or bad moods. Discipline requires Mr. Lizard understands what he did to get in trouble, that's hard to know. If he is having trouble ID- ing you, it definitely won't help. And then it still may not...

    Tegu taming

8 yr Female B&W. Blizzard has the run of our back yard with a 2' x 4' temperature controlled house she is free to enter or leave. We have had her since 2015 when she was about 24" long. Before that we had a Beardie for 9 years. I'm a 67 yr old guy living with my wife and 2 autistic adult sons...

    Major Bite

Blizzard got by wrist / forearm once. There were punctures and some bruising. That was years ago when she when through a biting phase. Now she only tries to bite when I am feeding her rats. I had a lot of fun on FaceBook replying to worried people about my arm turning black & etc.

    Major Bite

Just got a major bite feeding Blizzard, 5yr Female B&W. Thawed frozen rat, held in 12" tongs. Outside in back yard. She targeted my hand instead of the rat. Had to pry her mouth open. Several cuts and punctures. I didn't need stitches. Got antibiotics. She didn't seem to get hurt in the...

    Talken' Tegu!

She's shedding around her head and it happened again. My son heard a longer squeak than he'd heard before. Again this appears to be unintentional noise caused by bending her neck to scratch her head. She'd probably like a soak.

    Pushing leaves with front legs.

Saw Blizzard (4 yr female B&W) in her backyard, pushing dried leaves with her front legs ahead of her while walking forward. They were added to a pile of sticks and leaves she sometimes burrows in. Only saw her make pass. This is the only time I observed this behaviour. It is pretty much the...

    Tegu proofing my back yard

This seems to deter digging out, without building a new fence. It's treated lumber, screwed together. The older vertical fence planks had rotted at their bottoms. They were screwed above the rot to the large board. It's still a shambles, but we have contained the beast for more than than a...

    Tegu proofing my back yard

I Tegu proofed my back yard. We have a decrepit wood fence which I repaired and modified. Some areas I installed a horizontal 2x6 board flush with the ground. This was joined to a equal or larger board to form a 90 degree angle joint along to bottom of the fence. I hoped Blizzard would attempt...

    Talken' Tegu!

Blizzard the Lizard, our 4yr Female BW Argentine Tegu, has made squeaking noises on rare occasions when she is scratching her head. I think it's unintentionally caused by bending her neck to reach the itch and huffing while she scratches. Anyone else have a squeaker?

    Just got bit!

Thanks Walter1. Having fun on FaceBook discribing my arm: My arm is turning black and smelly green pus is leaking out of a hole where I can see bone. Other than that, it's great.

    Just got bit!

Blizzard the Lizard just bit me and hung on a few seconds. The injury is trivial. She's 3.5 yrs 9 lb BW. She usually is really docile, riding around on my shoulder, letting me get her out of her house when she's asleep, getting in and out of a cat carrier to go to Petco to get frozen rats...

How Low Can You Go - What's the lowest temp for your Tegu?

Anthropomorphic Anxiety Blizzard our Female 4yr B/W lives in the back yard. She has an 24"x48" heated cottage with free access through a flap door. She sleeps in there a lot, but sometimes buries herself in leaves and stuff accumulated next to our fence. I've dug her up many times, and she is...

    Hard tail tip

Yeah. That's what I am hoping. Can't peal anything until her body breaks the bond between old skin and new. The last 8' of her tail that looks like it should shed is still tightly attached. Like if try to lift scales with your finger nail you can tell it's still tightly attached.

    Hard tail tip

The last 3/4" of Blizzard's tail is suddenly hard. Like a stick. Not shrunken or discolored. She is a 3 year old B & W, 44.5" long. Really nice personality. Last 8" of tail is taking forever from looking like it needs to shed to loosing a few scales on bottom to now. Tail taking forever to shed...
